For many years Valves Online has been supporting projects that provide safe, reliable and cost-effective solutions to many ‘Green’ projects worldwide. We pride ourselves on our wealth of knowledge, experience and our compassion for sustainable energy.
With the importance and the demand for Green Energy, Valves Online has become the first choice for many of the UK's leading green energy manufacturers.
One of our customers
We have been involved with one of the leading Hydro turbine installers/providers in the UK and worked closely with this company for over 10 years, supplying industrial control valves for their green energy projects. These projects have evolved over the years and now harness the power of rivers, lakes and streams into efficient and cost-effective green generated power.
Design
The manufacturer provides an integrated turbine/generator/penstock connection/turbine house/tailrace design. Each turbine is entirely bespoke and is specified and designed to suit a specific site based on the gross head measurements taken during the site survey
Valves online supply the complete valve package ensuring the process is simple, easy to order and cost-effective.
The turbines are built specifically to suit the head and flow conditions of the site. The Turbine installation uses a small dedicated team of highly skilled hydro-engineering enthusiasts offering a wide range of facilities, help, knowledge, and expertise.
This project required some of our Electric Actuated Butterfly Valves, Gate Valves, Solenoids and Gauges combined with their multipole induction generators that have a direct drive solution, this is unique and has no compromise in the design, and makes the overall build much smaller but will achieve the same type of efficiency expected from a much larger turbine.
How it works
A hydraulic turbine converts the energy of flowing water into mechanical energy. A hydroelectric generator converts this mechanical energy into electricity. In this instance water is used to turn a propeller-like piece called a turbine, which then turns a metal shaft in an electric generator, which is the motor that produces electricity. |
Pictured above the images show the installation of the Turbine
